CANTON -- Community Health Center of the North Country, with locations in Canton and Gouvernuer, is expanding the services it currently offers in Franklin County to include services that benefit patients from birth through all stages of life.

Community Health Center of the North Country, 380 Creighton Road in Malone, now offers onsite Franklin County WIC program services, and through the addition of two new providers, pediatric health care and mental health care for both children and adults.

In October of last year, the health center started administering the WIC programs in both St. Lawrence and Franklin counties.

As of March 25, the Franklin County WIC team moved out of their 44 Catherine St. office and started operating out of Community Health Center of the North Country’s Malone health center site.

The health center recently added Melissa Benardot, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and Ashley Brown, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, to its team, which includes Dr. Craig Richards.

Benardot has provided health care to infants, children and adolescents in the Malone community for over three years. Brown is a Malone native who came back to the area to provide mental health care services to children, adolescents and adults in her hometown community.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Community Health Center of the North Country offers primary and preventive care services to all members of the community regardless of health insurance status or ability to pay.
