Community Health Center of the North Country (CHCNC) is taking time this week to celebrate National Health Center Week Aug. 7 to 13.
It is also an opportunity for people to stop in at one of the local healthcare centers in Canton and Gouverneur and see how President Lyndon Johnson’s vision from more than 50 years ago established them as part of his War on Poverty.
“Community Health Center of the North Country is the bridge to the healthcare everyone deserves,” said CHCNC’s Director of Marketing and Communications Ray Babowicz.
He said the centers provide high quality, accessible, and comprehensive primary, pediatric, dental, optometry, WIC, and behavioral healthcare services to all members of the community regardless of health insurance status or ability to pay.
The centers work to deliver community healthcare goals of increasing convenience of care for its patients and continuity of care, while reducing unnecessary visits to local emergency rooms, which is crucial to the success of ongoing efforts across New York State to achieve delivery system reform within the healthcare system.
