Community Bank is the 2013 presenting sponsor for Team NYSARC, a group devoted to local volunteerism.
The group is comprised of program participants, staff, family members and the general public.
“Team NYSARC was established by request from our program participants in an effort to assist community members in need,” said Daphne Pickert, St. Lawrence NYSARC’s CEO/Executive Director. “Community Bank has a long standing commitment to assisting local people, so this makes our partnership very well suited.”
Team NYSARC hosts an Annual Autism Awareness Walk and sponsors the Down Syndrome Society of St. Lawrence County’s Buddy Walk. The Team also participates in a variety of service activities throughout the year.
The funding provided by Community Bank last year made it possible for the Team to increase support to charitable causes. This additional commitment to another year of support will ensure the group can keep “giving back” and do even more! Team NYSARC currently contributes time, energy, and support to about 50 annual projects, eight monthly activities, and five weekly projects. One group delivers food five days a week with Meals on Wheels, too.
Over 200 people with disabilities work with a variety of community members to help others each year. A few of these partnerships include: Meals on Wheels, Heart Walk, Habitat for Humanity, food pantries, Salvation Army, Edward Moses Walk/Run, Renewal House, Humane Societies, community clean-ups, American Red Cross, Nursing Homes, etc.
