CANTON -- Members of the Coming of Age group at Canton's Unitarian Universalist Church spent a recent Sunday morning volunteering at the Church and Community Program office.

The COA members carried over the church’s monthly donation of food, helped organize and stock the shelves, decorated the food bank and halls, visited the thrift store, and learned about the needs and people in our community that this program tries to help. CCP director Catherine Matthews told the young people, "Donating food is a way to set another place at the table for someone who is hungry.”

The COA program honors the transition from childhood to adolescence with discussions and activities focused on understanding the freedoms and responsibilities of adulthood, what it means to live a good and responsible life, and how religion and community impact people’s lives.
