COLTON — A Colton woman recorded the second fastest time ever for a female in the Colton Winterfest 10-mile race held last month which saw 67 competitors complete the race

Shannon Derosier finished third overall with a time of 1:08:27 on Jan. 28, which nearly broke her 2016 record of 1:07:58. Her time also establishes the second fastest 30-39 age group record. This was Derosier’s fourth win in four races, and ties her for most wins with Stephanie Rogers.

Participants dealt with heavy snow and ice covered roads during the race.

Christian Belair of Summerstown, Ontario, won his first race in his second attempt with a time of 1:06:14. The time puts Beliar into sixth place all time in the male ages 40-49 group while also becoming the first Canadian to won the event.

Colton resident Shondel Boyden, two-time winner of the event, and her dog Rory placed third overall in the female category and broke Canton’s Suna Stone’s female 40-49 age group record of 1:14:54 (2009) by running her fastest time ever on the course in 1:14:45.

The youngest competitor was 17-year-old Aliana Hart of Fort Covington and the oldest was 84-year-old Jean Bernaques of Montreal, Canada.
