Colton Winterfest Committee gives proceeds from fundraiser events to neighborhood center

COLTON – The Colton Wintefest Committee donated $500 to the Neighborhood Center serving Colton, Pierrepont, and Parishville.

One of the reasons Winterfest got started over twenty years ago was to help the Neighborhood Center serving Colton, Pierrepont, and Parishville, says Grace Hawley, chair of the planning committee.

In 2017 the schedule included a silent auction of themed gift baskets as well as a quilt raffle. Plus craft fair vendor fees and a percentage of the proceeds from some other events were used to support the Neighborhood Center as well as cover expenses.

Just before the Colton Town Board meeting March 8 Hawley presented a $500 check to Julie Vaisey, the director of the Neighborhood Center.

A $325 donation was made by Colton AmVets Post 262 to the Neighborhood Center as well. Anyone wishing to contribute to the Neighborhood Center can contact Julie at 315-244-0069.

The Winterfest Planning Committee thanks the many organizers and other sponsors of festival events, making it such a fun time for people to get out and participate. The list of organizers and sponsors is posted along with photos from related events before, during, and after the festival: http://www.townofcolton.com/winterfest.html.

Next September the town’s winter festival committee will officially begin working on next year’s festival scheduled for January 25-28, 2018. Those wanting to be involved can contact Hawley at 315-262-2439.
