COLTON -- The Colton town board will hold a public hearing on revisions to the its zoning code before its regular meeting at 7 p.m. April 12.

“The Town’s at the last milestone before it can repeal and replace the current code which has been updated to be consistent with State regulations,” Colton Town Supervisor, Dennis Bulger said.

The new code includes changes to definitions regarding bed-and-breakfasts, agricultural uses an and boat house among other items.

Bulger explained those regulations include the Adirondack Park Agency, Town Law, the State Environmental Quality Review Act, and the Mined Lands and Reclamation Law.

Supervisor Bulger said the town worked with County Planning Office to finalize the revisions.

Matilda M. Larson, a Planner II who worked on the project, said the revisions primarily focused on defining standard and conditional uses, creating terms and references to be consistent with Adirondack Park regulations, and updating planning board and zoning board procedures.

Larson said digital copies of the proposed revisions are available for viewing at the Colton Library and at the Town Hall. “We’re also able to email digital copies to those who are unable to visit either location,” said Larson.

Larson said people who cannot attend the public hearing can email their comments to mlarson@stlawco.org no later than April 12.
