COLTON -- Joseph Kardash is leaving to take a new job downstate next month.
Kardash is to start as the new superintendent at Rensselaer City School District July 9.
His last day at CPCS will be July 6, after 13 years at the school.
He started at Colton-Pierrepont in 2005 as the microcomputer systems coordinator, then was appointed business manager, and in 2011, he was hired as superintendent.
The search for the next superintendent at CPCS is underway, being administered by St. Lawrence Lewis BOCES District Superintendent Thomas Burns.
Applications and resumes from candidates are due by June 6. A “paper screening” is tentatively set for June 11 with Burns and the board.
His office says they hope to have chosen candidates for presentations and interviews with the Board of Education and campus visits June 18 through 20.
The ambitious schedule has a candidate selected, at a salary between $118,000 and $128,000 a year, for an announcement by July 2.
