Firefighters from Colton and Parishville were named firefighters of the year and several St. Lawrence County Departments placed in the 118th annual Convention parade of the Northern New York Volunteer Firemen's Association June 7 in West Carthage.
Firefighters from Colton and Parishville were named firefighters of the year for a cold water rescue.
Potsdam took first place in Class A departments division without music followed by firefighters from Colton.
Massena firefighters won second place in Class A with music, marching with the school band. The Norwood Fire Department marching with the Brass Firemen took third place.
Louisville firefighters were named the best appearing drill team.
The West Potsdam ladies auxiliary placed third in the auxiliary category.
Also at the convention, Massena was selected to host the 2015 convention from June 4-6.
Scott McRobbie of Colton was elected second vice president, Dennis Eickhoff of Colton was named secretary and Laurie Hance, Hannawa Falls was voted treasurer.
