NORFOLK – A Colton man wanted in a 2009 break-in and theft at Norwood-Norfolk School has been arrested in Ohio and returned to northern New York.

Mitchell L. Butram, 38, was arrested on his return to St. Lawrence County and charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies, and a misdemeanor count of petit larceny.

The charges stem from a case where detectives allege that Butram broke into the school and stole a television and DVD player sometime sometime in July 2009.

Butram was located in Ohio, and was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice in New York.

On extradition, Butram was escorted back to New York by Sheriff’s Department personnel.

He was arraigned before Norfolk Town Justice Donald Lustyik, and was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.
