COLTON — A Colton man was jailed without bail Tuesday after he was found inside of a camp that he did not have permission to be in on French Hill Road, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Adam Maughan, 41, was charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespassing, officers said.
Deputies said the owners of the camp found Maughan inside when they arrived on Tuesday.
Maughan was charged with the criminal trespass charge because he unlawfully remained in the camp until deputies arrived, at which time he allegedly fled on foot.
He was located close the scene when he came out of the woods, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Canton court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail and to face the charges in court at a later date, officers said.
State police were also on scene.
