COLTON -- A Colton man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a personal injury accident early Saturday.
Mark C. Lafreniere, 29, was charged with driving while intoxicated, according to state police.
This would be his second DWI accident in three months, according to state police reports.
At about 1:40 a.m. Saturday, state police responded to a report of a one-car accident on State Route 56 in the town of Colton.
A 2013 Dodge Avenger had gone off the road near a curve by Stowe Bay Road in Colton, according to troopers. The car had struck a large boulder and the operator had left the scene, troopers said.
They soon located the operator, who had fled to his residence on Gulf Road in Colton.
LaFreniere was found to be injured and intoxicated. He was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for knee pain and facial injuries.
He consented to a blood test while at the hospital, troopers said.
LaFreniere was subsequently arrested for DWI as well as second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He was issued tickets returnable to Town of Colton Court on Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 15 in Potsdam, LaFreniere was charged with driving while intoxicated with a reported blood-alcohol content of .15 percent after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a tree. The threshold for a DWI charge is .08 percent blood alcohol.
