Colton class of 2014 leaders are Andrew Jenkins, Sabrina Johnson

COLTON -- Colton-Pierrepont Central School has announced Andrew Jenkins is the valedictorian of the class of 2014 and the salutatorian is Sabrina Johnson.

Jenkins has been a very active member of the student body, while maintaining a rigorous course load and high marks.

He was captain of the Whiz Quiz competition team, co-president of the Speech and Debate team, and a participant in Model United Nations and the school musicals. Andrew is a member of the National Honor Society and completed AP course work in World History, US History, English, Biology and Calculus. Jenkins will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors.

Outside of school, he has worked on trail restoration and is a volunteer for the organization, Nature Up North, which encourages outdoor activity among local residents.

He has been accepted to Middlebury College and plans to major in mathematics. He hopes to pursue an advanced degree in mathematics, while also enjoying nature as an outdoor guide.

He is the son of Anne Sibley and Charles Jenkins of Colton.

Sabrina Johnson was named the salutatorian for 2014. She has also been very active during her high school career. Johnson was a member of the Speech and Debate Team, Green Team, Whiz Quiz and president of the National Honor Society. She completed AP courses in World History, US History, Biology and English.

Johnson plays the trumpet and music has played a very large role in her time at Colton-Pierrepont. She has taken courses in Music Theory and Jazz Improvisation, and been a participant in NYSSMA.

She is also the starting pitcher for the varsity softball team and has volunteered her time with the elementary softball team.

Johnson plans to attend SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music in the fall. She will work toward a degree in music performance, and hopes for a career in the music industry.

She is the daughter of Julie and Scott Johnson, also of Colton.

Colton-Pierrepont High School Graduation will take place in the school auditorium on June 27 at 7 p.m.
