COLTON -- Several Colton-Pierrepont Central School students received awards for their submissions in the Amvets Flag, Poster and Essay Contest.
Winners included Grace Rousell, Jaeleigh Jaycot, Christopher Edwards, Emma Matthie, Lydia Thomas and Ty Farns.
A total of 800 entries were received for AMVETS Flag, Poster and Essay Contest, the following students received awards:
Ty Farns and Christopher Edwards placed first in their grade level for the entire State and their entries are being submitted for National judging.
Awards were presented by the newly elected President of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Department of NY, Shirley Sochia (center), Bill Miller, Commander of AMVETS Post 262 and Grace Hawley, Americanism Officer and President of Auxiliary 262.
Americanism has been celebrated with the school since 2005, continuing to grow to 150 local entries from the students. Students are assisted by their teachers and parents, putting in incredible efforts to stay with the theme, often honoring family members and local people.
