Funding of up to $4,000 for the spring 2014 semester is available to assist adult independent college students in St. Lawrence County with tuition, fees and books through a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) grant.
The St. Lawrence County One-Stop Career Center, which is administering the grants, says that eligible candidates must be able to apply for financial aid as an independent student, not including any parents’ income.
Students should be enrolled in a vocationally specific degree or certificate program, such as accounting, engineering, building trades, computer information systems and most health care programs such as nursing, physical therapy assistant, dental hygiene and radiological tech.
Funding is limited and eligibility for WIA must be completed prior to the start of the semester.
Interested students should contact Larry at 229-3343 or lfetcie@stlawco.org, or Sue at 229-3351 or sdixon@stlawco.org, to see if you qualify for a grant.
