A trough of low pressure aloft will prevail across the St. Lawrence Valley this weekend with below normal temperatures and a few scattered snow shower expected, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Given the lack of moisture any snowfall will be light and under an inch, forecasters say.
Temperatures will be mainly in the 30s today, but warm into the 40s to lower 50s by Tuesday with increasing amounts of sunshine, NWS says.
An overnight low of 19 is expected with winds of 6 to 9 miles per hour.
The next chance of precipitation will be rain showers on Wednesday into Thursday with temperatures in the mid-40s to lower 50s, the service says.
The forecast through next Friday is as follows:

Partly sunny, with a high near 36. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph.
Sunday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 16. East wind 3 to 7 mph.
Monday
Sunny, with a high near 42. Calm wind becoming northeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Mostly clear, with a low around 20. Southeast wind around 6 mph.
Tuesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Southeast wind around 6 mph.

A chance of rain showers before 9pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Wednesday
Snow showers likely before 10am, then rain and snow showers likely between 10am and 11am, then rain showers likely after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
