A cold front is passing through the North Country this afternoon, and it could touch off showers and thunderstorms into tonight.

At 1 p.m. a line of showers, possibly with thunderstorms, had popped up over the St. Lawrence River between Ogdensburg and Massena and was moving southeast. Radar showed more storm activity appearing in a line over southern St. Lawrence County into the Adirondack High Peaks, and other spots of precipitation activity forming.

Showers and thunderstorms remain a possibility this afternoon and tonight in St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms lingers until about midnight tonight, as skies clear for sunny skies Thursday. Lows tonight will be around 55.

Slightly cooler days and nights are predicted for the next several days.

Thursday's high is expected to reach 76 degrees in central St. Lawrence County Thursday, and 72 degrees in the south of the county. Thursday night, temperatures will drop to the mid-40s under clear skies.

On Friday, the temperature might reach 80 degrees with fair skies, clouding up some Friday evening with lows in the mid-50s.

The weekend outlook is for fair skies Saturday and Sunday, highs near 80 and lows around 60, except cooler toward the mountains.
