Cold front to bring rain showers, colder weather to North Country

A slow moving cold front combined with a low-pressure system will bring rain showers through the North Country Friday night and into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Cooler temperatures are expected to follow the rain, the service said.

Showers are expected to reign through Monday, with temperatures dipping as low as the mid 50s Sunday and Monday, the service said.

Sun and slightly warmer weather is expected to return Tuesday, with the National Weather Service predicting sun and a high of 60 degrees.

The full seven day forecast follows:

• Tonight: Occasional showers. Areas of fog after 2am. Low around 58. East wind 6 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

• Saturday: Occasional showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. High near 65. Southwest wind 10 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Saturday Night: A chance of showers between 1am and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Sunday: A chance of showers before 10am, then a chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Breezy, with a southwest wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind 15 to 18 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind 11 to 14 mph.
