CANTON -- Coakley Carpet One Ace Hardware, in conjunction with the First Alert company, is supplying free smoke detectors to families of Canton Central School students who don’t have them.
So far, 10 smoke detectors have been distributed to households of students in grades pre-k through 6th grade.
Eric Johnson of the Canton Fire Department and William Coakley of Coakley Carpet One Ace Hardware are organizing the event.
Kelley Glasgow, a Canton Central counselor, conducted the survey work at the school to help determine where the need is. The program will continue through the end of the school year.
