The weather in the North Country will be cloudy ahead of the next approaching system for Monday and Monday night.
The chances of rain and snow increase from 30 percent today to 70 percent tonight and 90 percent tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.
High temperatures today and Monday will be in the mid-30s with lows in the mid to upper 20s tonight and tomorrow night before it turns colder in the St. Lawrence Valley.
A southwest flow of cold air over the warmer waters of the Great Lakes continues today and will bring some snow showers across northern New York. Widespread mixed precipitation will move into the region Monday morning through Monday night as low pressure moves through the North Country.
Cold air follows and remains through the week.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
Today: A slight chance of snow showers before 3pm, then scattered rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Southwest wind 13 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tonight: Snow showers likely, mainly after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Monday: Snow before 10am, then rain and snow between 10am and 5pm, then rain after 5pm. High near 36. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Monday Night: Rain likely before 7pm, then rain and snow showers likely between 7pm and 10pm, then a chance of snow showers after 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Southwest wind 8 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 29. Breezy, with a southwest wind 16 to 23 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 19. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
• Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Southwest wind 11 to 14 mph.
