Mostly cloudy skies will prevail in the North Country with light snow in the forecast for Monday night through the middle of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures through Wednesday will reach 30 to 35 degrees during the day and drop to about 20 at night, the latest forecast says.

No significant snowfall is expected, but the chance of some light snow or snow showers is rated at 40 to 50 percent through Wednesday.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Cloudy, with a high near 33. East wind 3 to 7 mph.

• Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Northeast wind around 9 mph.

• Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Northeast wind around 9 mph.

• Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of light snow after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 20. East wind 7 to 9 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of light snow. Cloudy, with a high near 30. Northeast wind around 7 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

• Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

• Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 30. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

• Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 13. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

• Thursday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 18. West wind 8 to 10 mph.

• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 0. West wind 6 to 9 mph.
