Cloudy skies and flurries expected today in St. Lawrence County

Cloudy skies will continue through the day today with flurries and or snow showers expected in the mountains as a weak system passes north of St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Then a warm front will bring rain and snow showers to the region Thursday, NWS says. Temperatures will continue to moderate as warm air advection remains in place through the holiday weekend.

Highs today will be near 32 degrees with mostly cloudy skies and southwest winds of 11 to 16 miles per hour, the service says. There is an 80 percent chance of snow tonight, mainly after 1 a.m., with an overnight low of 29 expected. New snow accumulation of around an inch is possible.

Snow is likely before 3 p.m. on Thursday, then a chance of rain and snow. The high is forecasted to be 36 with new snow accumulation around an inch, NWS says.

The forecast through the middle of next week is as follows:

Thursday

Snow likely before 3pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 36. South wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday Night

A chance of snow before 7pm, then a chance of snow showers between 7pm and 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday

Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph.

Friday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Saturday

A chance of snow before 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow between 1pm and 3pm, then a chance of rain after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night

A 30 percent chance of snow before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind 7 to 10 mph.

Christmas Day

Mostly sunny, with a high near 31. West wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
