Clouds, rain, snow this weekend in St. Lawrence County, and warning of hazardous 50 mph gusts

A hazardous weather outlook alert for St. Lawrence County is in effect beginning Sunday, warning of strong wind gusts of up to 50 mph starting Sunday morning in southern parts of the county, and continuing at 35 to 45 mph through Sunday night across the county, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain, snow and clouds will dominate North Country weather for the next several days, the NWS says.

Showers are likely today, with highs around 40. The chance of rain diminishes to 30 percent tonight with moderate south winds. Lows tonight will be in the mid to upper 30s.

Sunday, the chance of rain is 80 percent, the forecasters predict, with winds picking up to around 20 mph and highs in the mid 40s.

Sunday night, things turn cooler, with lows down into the 20s, and rain turning to snow with gusty winds. The chance of precipitation is predicted to drop from 60 percent to 30 percent through the night.

On Monday, the temperatures are expected to remain in the 20s, with clouds and a 30 percent chance of snow showers with breezy conditions.

Monday night, lows in the teens are expected.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Showers likely, mainly between 1pm and 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 41. South wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Tonight: A slight chance of showers before 1am, then a slight chance of rain after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 38. South wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Sunday: Rain. High near 46. Breezy, with a southeast wind 13 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

• Sunday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 9pm, then a chance of snow showers between 9pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Monday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. West wind 5 to 11 mph.

• Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. South wind 7 to 9 mph.

• Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. South wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. West wind 8 to 13 mph.

• Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. West wind 8 to 11 mph.

• Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 20. West wind 8 to 10 mph.

• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

• Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 21. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
