Wintry weather will be moving into St. Lawrence County with a slight chance of snow Sunday which will increase into Sunday night and Monday, acording to the National Weather Service.

North Country skies are clouding up today with light southwest winds. Highs will be in the 20s.

Tonight it will be cloudy with lows around 12 degrees as winds shift to the south.

On Sunday, a 20 percent chance of snow after noon will increase to 90 percent late Sunday night. The forecast is calling for one to three inches of accumulation. Highs Sunday will be near 30 degrees, and lows at night are expected to be in the 20s, forecasters say.

On Monday there is a high probability of snow turning to rain as winds gust as high as 25 mph and temperatures reach about 35 degrees.

The chance of snow persists into Monday at about 40 percent as lows drop back into the 20s. Winds will remain gusty.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

• Tonight: Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 12. Light south wind.

• Sunday: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 29. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

• Sunday Night: Snow, mainly after 11pm. Low around 24. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

• Monday: Snow before 1pm, then rain and snow likely between 1pm and 3pm, then snow likely after 3pm. High near 35. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

• Monday Night: A chance of snow before 7pm, then a chance of snow showers after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. West wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

• Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

• Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. West wind 7 to 10 mph.
