CLIFTON -- St. Lawrence County will seek $200,000 from the from the U.S. EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant Program for cleanup of the former Jones & Laughlin Ore Company located at 4669 State Route 3 in the Town of Clifton.
The total project cost is estimated at $240,000. The Town of Clifton has offered a $40,000 match.
The project includes the remediation and abatement of hazardous substances including asbestos-containing materials and PCB-infused materials potentially found in structures located on the site at 4669 State Route 3.
A public meeting about the project will be held Dec. 15, 2015 at 66 p.m. in the Town of Fine Town Hall, 4078 State Highway 3, Star Lake, 13690.
The public meeting is being held to give the public the opportunity to comment on the proposed project. All comments will be incorporated into an Exhibit to be attached to the grant application package, pursuant to U.S. EPA program guidelines.
A hard copy of the draft proposal and draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) will be made available for public review and comment at the Town of Fine Town Hall, located at 4078 State Highway 3, Star Lake, New York, 13690, beginning December 8, 2015.
