Clear weekend to give way to more snow early next week throughout St. Lawrence County, National Weather Service says

After getting a weekend reprieve from a spat of spring snowshowers, the frozen precipitation is expected to return early next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to let up Friday night, with temperatures around 20 degrees, leading to a mostly cloudy Saturday with temperatures around freezing, meteorologsts say.

Saturday night is expected to be cold, with thermometers dropping to around 18 degrees, according to the NWS.

Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny around 33 degrees, with snow returning at night.

The NWS says temperatures will drop to the high 20s with 60 percent chances of snow.

Monday is expected to climb to nearly 50 degrees, with chances of snow turning to rain at 80 percent.

Monday night is predicted to drop to just above freezing, with as high as 60 percent chances of rain turning to snow.

The detailed forecast for Potsdam:

Friday night - Snow showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. North wind 7 to 10 mph.

Saturday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Northwest wind around 9 mph.

Sunday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. West wind around 7 mph.

Sunday night - Snow likely, mainly after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 28. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday - Rain and snow showers, becoming all rain after 9am. High near 49. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday night - Rain showers likely before 5am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday - A chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then a chance of rain showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
