Above normal temperatures, mostly clear skies and dry conditions will continue today and Monday as high pressure remains over the area, according to the National Weather Service.
But low pressure will start to approach the North Country Monday night and then move across the region Tuesday into Wednesday. As a result, clouds and precipitation chances will be increasing with fairly widespread rain expected Tuesday into Wednesday.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
• Today: Sunny, with a high near 75. South wind 6 to 10 mph.
• Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low in the mid 50s. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
• Monday: Partly to mostly sunny, with a high near 74. South wind around 10 mph.
• Monday Night: Cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind generally 6 to 10 mph, with stronger and gustier winds in the Gouverneur area.
• Tuesday: A chance of showers between 9am and 11am, then rain after 11am. High near 69. South wind around 14 mph with gustier conditions in the Gouverneur area. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Tuesday Night: Rain before 9pm, then showers likely, mainly between 9pm and 3am. Low around 51. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
• Wednesday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Thursday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
• Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. West wind around 6 mph.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
