OGDENSBURG – Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has entered their Pink Glove Dance video in a competition sponsored by Medline Industries, but they need your vote to win.

The October grand prize is $10,000, with $5,000 for second place and $2,000 for third. The prizes come in the form of donations to the breast cancer charity of the hospital’s choice. If Claxton-Hepburn wins, they are donating their money to the Gouverneur Business Women Breast Cancer Walk Fund in support of women in St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis counties.

Each person may only vote once for the video, so the hospital is asking everyone to spread the word.

Voters also need a Facebook account. You do not need an account to view the video.

Inspired by hospitals across the country, Claxton-Hepburn created its own Pink Glove Dance video last year.

During the day-long filming, over 20 hospital departments and more than 200 people participated in the making of the video.

Each group developed their own dance, some short, some long.

Not only did the making of the video help them raise awareness of breast cancer, but it was a great morale booster for the staff.

In the days preceding and following the filming, there was a buzz of excitement not often seen in the hospital.

When the final video debuted at the hospital, the auditorium was standing room only.

A sequel is in the works.

The winners of the contest will be announced Oct. 28.
