OGDENSBURG -- The Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary will host a ribbon-cutting and re-opening for their expanded hospital gift shop on Feb. 10 at noon.
The improved shop now takes up about 500 square feet.
The event will include a book-signing and drawing for a $50 shop gift certificate.
Author Barbara Briggs Ward will sign her books from 9 a.m. to noon. People can buy her books there or bring copies they already own to get signatures.
“As far as the expansion goes, the auxiliary has wanted to expand the gift shop for several years. We really just outgrew our current space,” said Ramona Kennedy of the CHMC Auxiliary. “Last winter when our new CEO, Nate Howell came to the medical center, the subject of expanding the shop was brought up again and Nate and his senior team made it happen. It’s absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t be happier with our expansion.”
The shop netted more than $86,000 in profits for the auxiliary last year, which they donated to the hospital.
