POTSDAM -- Clarkson University's Entrepreneurship Program is again one of the top 25 in the nation, according to the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.

The two have named Clarkson to their undergraduate schools list of "Top Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies for 2017," where it ranks #22 www.princetonreview.com/entrepreneur .

Based on surveys of business school administrators at more than 300 institutions with entrepreneurship programs, the annual list salutes 25 undergraduate programs for their excellence in entrepreneurship education.

This is Clarkson's fifth straight year in the top-25 list.

"We are honored The Princeton Review has recognized our programs that enable students to start real businesses and learn the principles of entrepreneurship through developing real products and services and bringing them to the marketplace," said Clarkson School of Business Dean Dayle M. Smith.

The Princeton Review chooses the top schools based on a wide range of institutional data it evaluates for this project. Schools are asked about the levels of their commitment to entrepreneurship inside and outside the classroom, the percentage of their faculty, students, and alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number of their mentorship programs, and their funding for scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies and projects.

"Entrepreneurship is a way of life at Clarkson. Through experiential programs at the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship, hands-on assistance at the Shipley Center for Innovation, and engaging curriculum, students across disciplines form teams, create new ventures, and develop an entrepreneurial mindset," said Erin Draper, director of the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship. "We are proud that this designation once again acknowledges Clarkson as a national leader in entrepreneurship education."

Clarkson has also been nationally recognized for its annual competition in which up to five young entrepreneurs or innovators have an opportunity to attend Clarkson without tuition through a combination of merit-based financial aid (after accounting for other aid for which the student may be eligible) and the acquisition by the University of an ownership interest in their business ventures.
