Governor Andrew Cuomo has appointed Clarkson University President Tony Collins to a panel that will advise the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on redesigns for John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports and the supporting infrastructure to attract additional commercial activity.
Last year, the Cuomo launched a redesign competition for the two New York City-area airports. JFK and LaGuardia alone handle an estimated 80 million travelers per year, supporting approximately 350,000 jobs, $18 billion in wages, and more than $50 billion in economic activity, according to the governor’s office.
But both have been consistently rated among the worst airports in the country in terms of design and overall passenger satisfaction.
