POTSDAM -- Clarkson University recently bought an associate sponsorship for the St Lawrence International Film Festival, slated for Oct. 22 to 25.
The festival is a first-of-its-kind celebration of film with events on both sides of the border between the US and Canada. No other film festival in the world can claim such a footprint and exposure, a press release announcing the sponsorship says.
With headquarters in Canton, festival events will take place there, Potsdam, and in Ontario in Ottawa and Brockville.
In addition to competition and special screenings, the festival will feature an opening gala at Ottawa’s Canadian Museum of History with guest of honor Dan Aykroyd, a block party in Canton, awards ceremonies, and a closing night film and party.
“Partnering with all of the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley is an essential part of this festival's mission,” said Executive Director Adam Paul.
“As an institution with faculty, students and alumni pursuing careers in all aspects of the film and media industry -- from production technology innovation to cinematography and digital design -- Clarkson University is proud to be among the supporters of the inaugural St. Lawrence International Film Festival," said Clarkson Vice President for External Relations Kelly O. Chezum.
