POTSDAM -- The Clarkson University School of Business has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

AACSB accreditation has been earned by fewer than an estimated five percent of the world's business programs.

Only 716 business schools in 48 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation, according to a press release from Clarkson University.

“Our School of Business was recognized for its strengths in strategic planning, student internship programs, executive education, faculty engagement with corporate partners, career placement, interdisciplinary and experiential learning, global perspectives, assurance of learning systems, and the first year programs in both business and in engineering and management,” said School of Business Dean Dayle Smith.

“We knew we were being assessed under the new AACSB standards and had to demonstrate our commitment to innovation, engagement and impact. The visiting peer review team commended the school on a number of its new initiatives and innovative practices,” Smith said.

“Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International.

The organization's aim is to promote excellence in business and management education

In addition to its business and accounting program accreditations, AACSB's activities include a wide array of conferences and seminar programs at locations throughout the world.

Clarkson University's Entrepreneurship Program is one of the top 15 in the nation, according to the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine. The two named Clarkson to their 2015 list of “Top 25 Colleges for Entrepreneurship Undergraduate Programs,” where it ranks #14. Forbes magazine ranks Clarkson University in its top-50 list of “America's most entrepreneurial universities.”
