Clarkson University to host 120th commencement May 11 in Potsdam

POTSDAM – Hundreds of visitors are expected in Potsdam for Clarkson University’s commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2013 Saturday, May 11.

This will be Clarkson's 120th commencement. Exercises will be held in Cheel Arena in the Cheel Campus Center beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, the procession will form at 1:30 p.m. outside on the quad near the Student Center, and proceed to the arena. In case of bad weather, alternate procedures will be announced.

The university asks that spectators be in their seats 2 p.m. Doors will open for guests with tickets at 1 p.m., 12:30 p.m. for disabled guests and their escorts.

More than 700 Clarkson University students will be granted bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Speaking and receiving honorary degrees will be Wanda M. Austin, president and chief executive officer of the Aerospace Corporation, and Mark P. Sarkisian, director of seismic and structural engineering in the San Francisco office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP.

During the commencement ceremony, faculty members will be honored with the John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award and the Clarkson University Distinguished Teaching Award.

Commencement will be webcast at http://media.clarkson.edu/ beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
