POTSDAM – Some of Clarkson University’s downtown buildings could be put to new uses under a plan to be announced Thursday.
University President Tony Collins will hold a press conference Thursday morning “on the next phase of the evolution of our Downtown Campus,” according to spokesman Michael Griffin.
The press conference will be held in Old Main on Main Street, a beautiful Potsdam sandstone structure.
During the first phase, Clarkson Hall was refit for the university’s Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies programs. Peyton Hall was renovated as a business incubator for the Shipley Center for Innovation, and business space for the community was made available in Lewis House.
The St. Lawrence County Arts Council has been using space in Snell Hall,.
The announcement will include “Clarkson's plans as we continue to invest actively in the future of the Downtown Campus -- and in the economic health and future of Potsdam and the North Country,” said Griffin.
