POTSDAM -- Sophomores of Clarkson University’s Honors Program are seeking help in studying the food and water resiliency of the area.
Early last semester the class split up into teams, each focusing on a different aspect of resiliency; topics include power and transportation, law and economics, food and water, and medical and community.
The group of students focused on increasing food and water resiliency is looking for help in completing their project.
Resiliency, in this context, refers to the ability of a community to get back to normalcy after a disaster strikes. A disaster might include an ice storm, flood or drought.
These students believe that the best way to help the community become more resilient with regard to food and water is to become more self-sufficient. Some ways this can be achieved is through growing and canning food at home, as well as collecting rainwater.
The group is asking community members to take the team’s survey, to help reach their project goals.
