POTSDAM -- Dozens of Clarkson University students and staff recently wrapped presents for families in need.

The Clarkson University New York State Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (AOE HEOP) members volunteered to wrap presents with the Potsdam Holiday Fund this month to help the organization prepare for the holidays.

The Potsdam Holiday Fund serves more than 300 families in need, including more than 600 children and 100 seniors in the Potsdam area. The organization reaches families in Madrid, Hopkinton, Nicholville, Brasher Falls, Chase Mills, Fort Jackson, West Stockholm and Winthrop.

AOE HEOP students participate in several service projects throughout the semester, and this is their second year wrapping gifts for the Potsdam Holiday Fund. AOE HEOP Director Tammy McGregor-Twiss collaborated with Pam Yugaris, president of the Potsdam Holiday Fund, to develop the project to help connect students and the community.

"Our community service project carried the theme of wrapping up the semester and, most importantly, providing for families in need," said Erin Cook, assistant director of AOE HEOP.
