POTSDAM -- A 20-year-old male in an “altered mental state” who took off his clothes in a Clarkson University classroom Monday afternoon and who reportedly assaulted two Clarkson security officers was taken into custody and sent for a mental evaluation.

Police were called to assist at about 3:30. They took custody of the male, whose name has not yet been released, and took him to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg for observation and evaluation.

No charges have been made yet, said Potsdam Police Lt. Mark Murray.

Murray said when he was taken into custody, the male was in “an altered mental state.”

“Our main focus was getting him transported and taken care of before we sort out any charges,” Murray said.
