POTSDAM -- Evgeny Katz, the Milton Kerker Chaired Professor of Colloid Science at Clarkson University, has been named one of the world's top-100 chemists over the past 10 years.

The ranking, by Thomson Reuters news service, is based on the impact of his published papers.

Katz is listed at number 62, with 97 papers over 10 years with 6,147 citations and an impact quotient calculated at 63.37. The average citation impact in chemistry for the period was 11.07, so all the researchers listed in the top-100 achieved more than five times that mark.

Since roughly a million chemists were recorded in the journal publications indexed by Thomson Reuters during the last decade, these 100 represent the top hundredth of one percent.

The full list of Top 100 Chemists is at http://sciencewatch.com/dr/sci/misc/Top100Chemists2000-10 .

Katz came to Clarkson in 2006, having been at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Russian Academy of Sciences. His research interests include biocomputing, biofunctionalized nanomaterials, bionanoengineering, bionanotechnology for bioelectronic applications and biosensors.
