POTSDAM – Preschoolers and toddlers at Potsdam Building Blocks Day Care recently learned hand-washing skills from Clarkson University Department of Physical Therapy students.
After some discussion about why it is important to wash hands, students laughed when Ms. Germmister sneezed and spread germs all over the floor.
The presentation included music and movement and games. The children loved it, according to Director Marlene Pickering.
In addition to teaching children about hand washing, the Clarkson PT students provided training for staff at the center.
“It was a great experience for us and for them” says Pickering. “Regulations require we provide training on health and safety and the training helps meet the requirement. The students are required to complete a practicum and the presentation and training met their requirement”.
PBBDCC has worked with the PT students in the past and they say they have always had positive experiences.
