Clarkson kicks off $225 million fund-raising campaign

POTSDAM -- Clarkson University has kicked off a $225 million fundraising campaign, E2E (Evolution to Excellence), with a celebratory dinner, entertainment and a weekend of academic forums on campus.

More than 200 people gathered in the university’s new Student Center for the event.

The university has already raised $184 million during the advance phase, or 82 percent of the campaign goal. The campaign is scheduled to conclude at the end of 2014.

Said Clarkson President Tony Collins, "With the continued support and generosity of our donors, we will continue to advance critical construction projects, improve the excellence of our faculty, grow our pool of scholarship aid and provide many other value-added opportunities that, taken together, realize the vision of a Clarkson education."

The priorities of the E2E campaign are:

• Academic Excellence (faculty support, program support and sponsored research)

• Facilities (campus beautification, buildings, classrooms, laboratories and athletic venues)

• The Clarkson Fund (unrestricted support of current operations)

• Financial Aid (undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships)

• Hockey/Athletics (Cheel Arena renovations, Division I hockey scholarships and athletic program support)

Gifts of $100,000 or more were received from 124 individual donors and 39 organizations, whose leadership gifts have propelled the campaign early.

In his 2003 inaugural address, President Collins invited all of Clarkson's stakeholders to join him as Clarkson launched its long-range Evolution to Excellence strategic plan. He said then that Clarkson would build its future on three fundamental building blocks: academic excellence, marshalling of financial resources and alumni engagement.
