POTSDAM -- With the 25th season of varsity hockey in Clarkson University’s Cheel Arena, fans are getting a deal on seasons tickets, with prices rolled back to 1992 levels.

Season tickets for Golden Knights men’s games are $150 for 17 home dates at Cheel Arena plus any ECAC Hockey playoff games at Cheel this season.

Last year, that would have cost $210. That’s a discount of nearly 30 percent.

For Clarkson alumni and employees the cost will be $138, saving them $128 per season-ticket seat versus buying tickets individually for each game this year.

In 2016-17, there is an added bonus: Clarkson season ticket holders will receive a dollar for every regular season game in declining balance to be spent with Aramark, so two season tickets for the 17 regular season games gives the purchaser $34 in this deal.

The 2016-17 Clarkson men’s schedule looks to be one of the more exciting and competitive campaigns in the Golden Knights' lengthy history.

Entering its 95th season this fall, Clarkson will face a challenging schedule that includes a possible eight games against Hockey East foes, a notable Thanksgiving Holiday Tournament, a 17-date home slate, including a pair of contests against two traditional Big 10 powerhouse programs, and the always demanding 22-game ECAC Hockey circuit.

Stadium Journey Magazine (www.scout.com/stadium-journey) listed Cheel as the fourth-best hockey venue in its ranking of all 59 NCAA Division I facilities.

From the inaugural 9-3 opening night victory over Boston College on October 26, 1991, to their ECAC Hockey first-round playoff series sweep of Princeton last March, the Golden Knights have supplied their loyal fans with plenty to cheer about within the spectacular confines of the 3,000-seat arena at the Cheel Campus Center.

Through the first 25 years at Cheel (1991-2016), 1,249,386 fans have witnessed the Knights play. The Green and Gold have posted a .656 winning percentage – nearly two-thirds of the games played on their home ice since 1991, 278-135-46 at Cheel.

In 2015-16 Clarkson Hockey boasted the third best home-winning percentage in the nation with an .842 winning percentage, 15-2-2.

Those interested in season tickets or who would like to know more can call the Cheel Arena Box Office at 268-7750. The box office is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
