Clarkson and SUNY Canton designated as 'military friendly' schools

POTSDAM -- Clarkson University and SUNY Canton have again been designated “military-friendly” school by Victory Media.

Clarkson University provides full tuition benefits to qualifying post-9/11 active duty service members, veterans and eligible dependents of military personnel under the federal government’s Yellow Ribbon Program.

With a long history of military preparation on its campus, Clarkson's Army and Air Force ROTC units are consistently recognized in Washington Monthly magazine's annual college guide as having the second highest concentration of ROTC military service in the nation. Students in these programs are the recipients of numerous awards and recognition for their scholastic work as well as success in field training, the announcement from the university says.

SUNY Canton was chosen for its support services that benefit current and former military members and their families, such as a dedicated study lounge and flexible online learning options. It is the fourth time the college has been recognized by the publication.

This year more than 75 veterans, National Guard members, reservists and veteran dependents are enrolled at SUNY Canton. The college's Military and Veteran Student Service Coordinator Patrick S. Massaro serves as an adviser to military students and their families, helping them navigate the programs and services that can assist them in reaching their educational goals.

Victory Media’s military-friendly designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.

The designation and list is part of Victory Media’s effort to provide service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities, according to a press release from the company.

Victory Media is owned by service-disabled veterans serving the military community since 2001. It publishes G.I. Jobs, among other publications.
