With the recent heavy snowfall Ogdensburg is reminding residents that property owners are responsible for clearing snow on their sidewalks.

Residents are reminded that is illegal to push, throw or blow push snow into the street when clearing driveways and sidewalks.

“Do not push snow on to a neighbor’s property without their permission. If you have permission, and you push across the roadway, please ensure that you clean all the snow out of the roadway. Be courteous; do not make it someone else’s problem,” a release from the city says. “Do not place your garbage containers in the roadway. Place them in your driveway or between the sidewalk and the street.”

Contractors are reminded to coordinate with the City DPW to identify where it may be dumped.

The city has several large sites for snow storage.

Dumping snow in the river will be done in emergency situations only.
