Chance of snow hitting St. Lawrence County by Tuesday, the National Weather Service says

Snow may hit St. Lawrence County by Tuesday and possibly this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

They are calling for a 30 percent chance in Potsdam and Canton tonight, with a 20 percent chance in other low-lying areas of the county. Star Lake is looking at 50 percent odds of frozen precipitation.

Temperatures are expected to be around 26 degrees in all areas of the county, and a few degrees cooler in the mountains.

Ogdensburg is looking at a slight chance of showers Saturday with the rest of the county forecast to have cloudy skies. All areas should see temperatures around 40 degrees.

On Saturday nighty, the odds of snow go up to a 40 percent chance of snow in Massena, Potsdam, Canton, Ogdensburg and Gouverneur, but dips to a 30 percent chance in the mountains.

On Sunday, there is a 30 percent chance of rain during the day in the low-lying areas, which could be snow in the mountains. The odds of a rain-snow mix hold steady at 30 percent for Sunday night, the National Weather Service says. Temperatures are forecast around 38 degrees during the day, dipping to 31 degrees at night.

The extended forecast for Canton:

Tonight - A 30 percent chance of light snow, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday - Increasing clouds, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday night - A chance of rain showers before 11pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 11pm and 2am, then a chance of snow showers after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday - A 30 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday night - A chance of rain showers before 8pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 8pm and 11pm, then a chance of snow showers after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

Monday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Light and variable wind.

Veterans Day - A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Light northeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tuesday night - A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Northwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Wednesday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Thursday - Partly sunny, with a high near 33. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Thursday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.
