Chance of rain/snow in St. Lawrence County as flood watch continues through Sunday

St. Lawrence County could see rain and snow tonight as the area remains under flood watch due to rapidly melting snow and precipitation in the forecast.

Meteorologists have all of St. Lawrence County under flood watch and a hazardous weather outlook due to the rising water levels.

The NWS says there is a 100 percent chance of rain today in all St. Lawrence County communities with temperatures forecast in the low 60s.

Tonight there is a 60 percent chance of snow in Canton, Gouverneur and Ogdensuburg, with Star Lake looking at 80 percent odds. Massena is looking at a 60 percent chance of rain giving way to a 20 percent chance of snow. Temperatures are forecast to fall into the mid 20s.

Sunday should be partly sunny in all St. Lawrence County communities with temperatures getting to highs in the mid 30s. Star Lake has a 30 percent chance of snow leading to partly sunny later in the day.

Sunday night should be mostly cloudy with temperatures just below freezing, giving way to a partly sunny Monday with temperatures in the mid 40s.

Star Lake is looking at a 30 percent chance of snow for part of Sunday night into part of Sunday morning.

The detailed forecast:

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1pm, then occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 1pm and 3pm, then showers after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature falling to around 43 by 5pm. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday night: Rain and snow showers likely before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers between 11pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind 13 to 16 mph.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Tuesday: A chance of snow showers before 8am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 8am and 9am, then a chance of rain showers after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. East wind 3 to 5 mph.

Wednesday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 54. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday night: Rain showers likely before 3am, then rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday: Rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. West wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 9 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 29. West wind 6 to 10 mph.
