A chance of rain will continue through the day before sunshine arrives again Thursday in St. Lawrence County.
A low-pressure system and its associated cold front will pass through the region today and bring plenty of cloud cover and fairly widespread rain showers to the area this morning.
This system will move east of the region this afternoon and the areal coverage of the showers will decrease with drier weather moving in tonight and Thursday in response to high pressure building down from Canada.
Dry weather will continue Friday into Saturday with a gradual warming trend expected.
The rest of the workweek should remain dry, but wet weather will return this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
A seven-day forecast follows:
Today: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 52. West wind 5 to 11 mph.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 78. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 58. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. Southwest wind around 7 mph becoming northwest after midnight.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 81. West wind 8 to 15 mph.
Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.
Northwest wind 13 to 16 mph.
Sunday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. South wind around 10 mph.
