Chance of rain lingers throughout the weekend in St. Lawrence County

Several weather fronts are expected to move through the North Country over the next few days, keeping the chance of rain in the forecast beginning Saturday afternoon, and it looks as though we should expect a fair amount of rain on Sunday.

Daytime temperatures will be very comfortable, in the 60s and 70s, through Monday, and a little cooler -- back into the 50s -- Tuesday through Thursday next week.

Overnight lows are expected to be slightly below freezing tonight, but into the 40s and 50s after that.

Again, Sunday appears to be the day to watch out for, with showers and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds expected to dump perhaps a quarter or a half of an inch on the St. Lawrence Valley.

The National Weather Service forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:

This Afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 61. West wind between 10 and 13 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. Southwest wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 63. West wind between 6 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Showers likely, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 47. Southwest wind between 6 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 65. Southwest wind between 9 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday: Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
