Chance of freezing drizzle today; warmer temperatures in the forecast for the beginning of the week in St. Lawrence County

Today will see a chance of freezing drizzle late this morning and then partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 30s this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Lows tonight will drop into the mid 20s with light and variable winds, the service says.

A high pressure system will move into the St. Lawrence Valley this afternoon bringing drier weather through Tuesday morning, TWS says/.

A low pressure system will move into the region Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning bringing a chance of rain and snow showers in the North Country.

High temps will see a minor warming trend from the lower to mid 30s to near 40 by Wednesday before cooling down to the low 30s for the rest of the week, TWS says.

The forecast for the rest of the week is as follows:

Monday Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Calm wind.

Monday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Light east wind.

Tuesday A chance of rain showers after 1pm, mixing with snow after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night Rain and snow showers likely before midnight, then rain showers likely between midnight and 3am, then rain and snow showers likely after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday Rain and snow showers likely, becoming all snow after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday Night A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind around 9 mph.

Thursday A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 31. West wind 8 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Friday Partly sunny, with a high near 30. West wind around 8 mph.

Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 30. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
