CANTON -- The Celtic Knot, 17 Main St., is set to open Saturday, Nov. 15 offering fabric, yarn and other related necessities for quilting, knitting and needle-work.

“We will offer yarn and fabric from many different makers and all the notions associated with quilting and knitting,” said owner Erin Alguire of Canton.

A grand opening party will take place on Friday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. with the doors officially opening the following morning at 10:30 a.m.

The store will be staffed by Alguire, Jody Horwitz, Lisa Cullen and Kaylee Chin.

“We will offer knitting classes and groups…people can stop in the store to sign up,” she said.

Alguire, who also co-owns Sposa Bella, 81 Main St., with her mother, said she opened the store because believes Canton needs more small shops and businesses.

“I am a member of the Canton Merchants’ Associations and through talking with people I saw a big need for it,” she said.

There will also be a gift section that will offer premade mittens, jewelry and more.

Quilt kits will be available for people who are new to the hobby. The kits come complete with everything needed to make a complete quilt along with directions on how to create it

“I want it to be place where people can relax and hang out…there will be a spot for coffee and its just a beautifully restored old brick building with a lot of antiques in it,” Alguire said. .

Store hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, she said.
